When Helen Lucille Voliva was born on September 28, 1917, in Ozark, Arkansas, her father, Newt, was 28, and her mother, Mary, was 26. She married Woodrow Wilson Smith on December 9, 1936. They had five children during their marriage. She died on February 6, 2008, in Morrilton, Arkansas, at the age of 90, and was buried in Hattieville, Arkansas.
