Alvie A. Stogsdill, 96, of Imboden, passed away early Monday morning March 7, 2016 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Born September 9, 1919 in Powhatan, son of Forrest Albert and Bertha Jane Garrett Stogsdill.
He was veteran of the United States Air Force serving over 20 years, he was a member of the 12th Bombardment Group, 81st Squadron, he was an B-29 aerial gunner for 72 combat missions. He served in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Naples-Foggia, he received Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, AF Service Ribbon, EAME Service Ribbon and Four Bronze Service Stars, Distinguished Flying Cross.
He was united in marriage to Gertrude Elizabeth Berger November 28, 1948 who preceded him in death May 31, 2002. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, T. C., William Jackson and Bud Stogsdill.
Survivors include his son, Christopher Stogsdill and wife Mary Ann of Westville, Oklahoma; two sisters, Elvena English of Pocahontas and Carmeta Bagwell of Imboden; a brother, Tom (Irma) Stogsdill of Jefferson City, Missouri; two granddaughters, Shelley England and Hillary Boling; five great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Interment will be in the Hope Cemetery at Imboden with full Military honors.
