When William Marion Massingill was born on February 6, 1859, in Jasper, Mississippi, his father, Julius, was 20 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 18. He married Mahala "Hallie" (Williams) Massingill on January 1, 1880, in Old Hickory, Arkansas. They had four children in 10 years. He died on August 8, 1933, in Old Hickory, Arkansas, at the age of 74, and was buried in Hattieville, Arkansas.
