Alvanette Johnston Gates age 73 of Warren, AR. died Wednesday November 28, at the Bradley County Medical Center. She was born September 29th 1939 in Bradley County a daughter of the late Floyd Johnston Sr. and Beatrice Greenwood Johnston. She was the Secretary of Carpenters and Millwright Union Local 497 and a member of Farmville Baptist Church. Also preceding her in death was her son Rupert Carroll Taylor. Survivors include her husband R. L. Gates, whom she married December 28, 1962 in Rye, AR. 2 sons, Robert Edwin Taylor, Itta Bena, Miss.; and Ronald Keith Gates of Warren, AR. A daughter Regina Lynn Gates Gorman and spouse David, Monticello, AR. A brother Floyd Johnston, Jr. Warren, AR. and 4 sisters, Patsy Hunter, Warren, AR., Tishie Edgars, Jacksonville, AR., Mary Sharp, Hermitage, AR. and Joan Johnston, Simpsonville, SC. 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were 1:30pm Saturday, December 1st at Frazer’s Chapel with Rev. Wayman Mann and Rev. Ronald Neely officiating. Linda Barrett was organist. Burial was in Gravelridge Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Dennis Donahue, Rick Halford, Ed Wright, Larry Sharp, James Hunter, Brian Smith, Sam Smith and Matthew Neely. Honorary pallbearers were Doyle Gates, Bobby Neal, Dr. David Foscue and Bradley County Home Health. The family would like to thank the Bradley County Home Health Center and Dr. David Foscue for the best care available.
