Obituary
L. J. Boyer, aged 68, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Monroe Carr, five miles south of Cleveland, Saturday morning, March 14, 1936, after a two weeks illness of pneumonia and complications following the flu. He was born in the state of Missouri on the 22nd day of April 1870, the twin brother of Eli Boyer, who survives. He was united in marriage to Miss Mabel Reynolds of Jerusalem, Arkansas, in the year 1900, and to this union five children were born; four of whom survive, to-wit; Hersel, Will Lee and Ronald Boyer and Mrs Monroe Carr. Surviving him are also five grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted by Dr. S. J. Patterson, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Morrilton, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock p.m. at Sunny Side cemetery six miles west of Center Ridge, where the body was interred. Reid's Funeral Home of this city in charge of arrangements.
Jess Boyer, as he was familiarly known to his friends, was one of Conway county's most respected citizens for many years. He was a quiet modest, unassuming man who never intruded in the affairs of others. He was honest and just in dealing with his fellowmen. He was a member of the Methodist church and lived in a consistent christian life. He was always identified with any movement or enterprise for the advancement of church, school or community. In his death a good man is removed from our midst. And as Dr. Patterson said in his funeral service no higher tribute can be paid than to say "He was a good man." A good citizen, a loving father, a loyal friend has fallen asleep after sucessfully meeting the issues and problems of life. He will be missed by his love ones to whom he was deeply attached and to the many friends who knew and respected him but he has left an untrnished name and memory of an unblemished character that assures us that all is well.
