When Weldon "Wid" Larking Polk was born on August 3, 1923, in Center Ridge, Arkansas, his father, Grover, was 21 and his mother, Gertie, was 19. He had two sons and two daughters with Doesha Lorene Wilson. He died on August 6, 2013, in his hometown at the age of 90, and was buried there.

Weldon "Wid" Polk age 90, of Center Ridge, Arkansas passed away, Tuesday, August 6, 2013. He was born August 3, 1923 in Center Ridge, Arkansas, a son of Grover Garfield Polk and Gertie Mae Howard Polk. He was a Navy World War II veteran and retired from Crompton Cotton Mill after thirty four years and was of the Church of Christ faith. He is survived by his wife, Lorene Wilson Polk; son, Garry Wayne Polk and wife Melissa; daughters, Linda Ruth Stracner and husband Billy, and Kathy June Lewis all of Center Ridge; brother, Melvin Ray Polk of Morrilton; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Bruce Polk. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 9, at Center Ridge Church of Christ with Mr. Don Williams officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home, Inc. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the funeral home in Morrilton.
