When William Benjamin Flowers was born on August 11, 1888, in Lick Mountain, Arkansas, his father, John, was 33 and his mother, Francis, was 34. He married Sara Elizabeth "Lizzie" Carr on May 19, 1917. They had six children in 19 years. He died in 1959 in Dunklin, Missouri, at the age of 71, and was buried in Center Ridge, Arkansas.
