October 27, 1936 - February 24, 2009
Ira Alvin Skaggs, 72, of Scranton died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at Paris Health & Rehabilitation.
He was a native of Clarksville, son of the late Sidney and Annie Rose Skaggs, graduate of Clarksville High School, retired master sergeant with the US Air Force after 22 years of service and also retired from IBM after 15 years of service, member and past deacon of First Baptist Church in Texas, 32nd degree Mason, member of the Shriners, and was preceded in death by four brothers, Farris Lee, Ernest (Bob), Elmer Hoyt, and Vanis Bee Skaggs. Survivors include his wife, Murieline Thompson Skaggs; 2 daughters, Sonya Cavaleski and husband, Al, of Concord, North Carolina, and Rhonda Nelson and husband, Bob, of Rockingham, North Carolina; 4 sisters, Hazel Farris, Gladys Gipson, and Edith Chrisman, all of Clarksville, and Roseanna Woodard of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; 1 brother, Lester Skaggs of Clarksville and 4 grandchildren, Megan Cavaleski, Kaitlyn Cavaleski, and Everett Cavaleski, all of Concord, North Carolina, and Robert Nelson of Rockingham, North Carolina
