Roy Lee Vaught, Jr: Husband of my first cousin, Janice Hope (Hosey) Vaught (living at age 90 in Malvern, Arkansas).R L is the son of Roy Lee Vaught, Sr and Maud Emaline(Lewis) Vaught.He joined the National Guard when he was 18 and served until WWII; progressing to the rank of Lieutenant. During WWII he served with the Army in Germany, in and around Frankfort. He received a battlefield promotion to Captain. Awarded the Silver star, Oak Leaf Cluster and Purple Heart.After WWII, he was asked by his former National Guard Company Commander to rejoin the Guard; which he did. For a number of years the family lived at Camp Robinson in Little Rock and he received his promotions to Major and Lt Colonel. He was offered the post of Administrator, State Military Department, National Guard, a civil service position, which he accepted and where he remained until he retired. He is the father of 5 children: Linda Lee, Roy Michael, Dale Christine, Robin Louise, and Mary Melissa.
