When Riley Walter Howard was born on May 6, 1891, in Center Ridge, Arkansas, his father, Elbert, was 42 and his mother, Emmaline, was 34. He had two sons with May Belle Flowers between 1918 and 1921. He died on July 9, 1967, in Morrilton, Arkansas, at the age of 77, and was buried in his hometown.
