Purple Heart
Rev Archie W Wheeler, 100, of Conway, formerly of Clarksville, died Sunday, August 1, 2010, at Greenbrier.A native of Alix, he was a son of the late Fred and Mary McCleary Wheeler, retired coal miner, Army veteran of World War II, wounded in Germany and a Purple Heart recipient. He served as minister at several Baptist churches including East Mount Zion, Woodland, Spadra, and Union Grove and was a member of Harlan Park Baptist Church at Conway. He was employed at the Fair Store in Clarksville as a clerk and later as manager for several years, and was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Barnett Wheeler; and 9 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Velma Albat of Conway, Mary Ann Plumlee and husband, Hugh, of Berryville, and Linda Jetton of Russellville; 1 sister, Polly Key of Clarksville
