Mrs. Estelle H. Combs, 63, El Dorado business woman died late Saturday in a local hospital after a brief illness. Born in Lincoln Parish, Louisiana, Jan. 19, 1902, she was the daughter of Clara B. Mitchell and A. J. Hammons, Sr. The owner of Monk's Radiator Shop, she had lived here since 1919. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and active in the affairs of that church. She was also a member of the El Dorado Council of Garden Clubs, the Centennial Garden Club, of which she was a past president; and the Business and Professional Women's Club, of which she was chairman of the legislative committee. Funeral services will be at 10:30 Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Don Harbuck and the Rev. Van Evans officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery by Young's. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Burton Denman, Richardson, Tex.; two sons, Robert H. Combs, Owensboro, Ky. and James L. Combs, Houston, Tex.; four sisters, Mrs. O. H. Colvin, Mrs. Loy Swilley and Mrs. Lola James, all of El Dorado, and Mrs. Evelyn Shoffer, Shreveport, La; four brothers, A. J. Hammons, Jr., El Dorado, Mitchell Hammons, Choudrant, La., Harold Hammons, New Iberia, La., and Elvis Hammons, San Leondro, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. The body will remain at the funeral home until one hour before time of the funeral. Active pallbearers will be Rankin McCarty, O. H. Colvin, Boyd Bates, Lloyd Adcock, John Smart, F. A. Rogers, Bill Brown and F. A. Roberts. (The El Dorado Times - August 30, 1965)
