Funeral services for Lloyd E. McCarty, 55, of 1211 W. Eighth St., who died Sunday afternoon, will be helkd at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Don Harbuck, the Rev. J. W. Burrows and the Rev. J. Rayford McLean officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Born in Champagnolle on April 21, 1913, he was the son of James Jonathan and Nellie Mae Parks McCarty. He was a lifelong resident of Union County and was the owner of McCarty's Restaurant. He was a former employe of MacMillan Ring-Free Oil Co. and for the past two years had served as manager of the Municipal auditorium. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Vera Haskins McCarty of El Dorado; two sons, Benny Lloyd McCarty of Monroe, La., and James Ronald McCarty of El Dorado; a daughter, Mrs. Dale Chauncey of El Dorado; his mother Mrs. Nellie Parks McCarty of El Dorado; a sister, Mrs. John B. Penkas of Chicago, Ill.; and two grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be Tommy H. Miller, Buck Wood, Gordon Strickland, Benny Cameron, James A. Sturdivant and C. W. Blanchard. Honorary ones will be Paul McHenry, Louis Hurley, Dr. James B. Weedman, Dr. Joe B. Wharton, John S. Benson, Tommy Reeves, John Yocum and Mayor I. L. Pesses. The body will be taken to the church at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. (El Dorado Times - November 25, 1968)
