Joseph Grabherr was born on September 14, 1833, in Austria. He married Theresia Kreideweis in 1871 in Peoria, Illinois. They had six children in 18 years. He died on November 4, 1899, in Oppelo, Arkansas, at the age of 66, and was buried there.
