Eva Mae West Jones, age 85, of Petit Jean Mountain, on November 25, 2008, marked the beginning of her eternal spiritual happiness when God called upon her soul to come forward and enter the gates of heaven. While her physical presence here upon this earth will be greatly missed and grieved by those who knew and loved her, the heavens are rejoicing in the everlasting graces of her arrival at God's door. Always and forever in the hands of the Lord, her spirit will be free to roam the great gardens of heaven in peaceful harmony. She was born, January 14, 1923, in Marlow, Oklahoma, a daughter of Noel Eastern West and Anna Belle Stone West. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Russellville, Petit Jean Extension Homemakers Club, and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Mrs. Jones also drove the school bus from Petit Jean Mountain to Oppelo from 1950 until 1955, and also wrote the Petit Jean News in the Headlight for many years. Preceding her in death was her husband, Walter W. Jones. Her survivors include two daughters and one son: Mary Cody and husband "Hub" Cody, Anna Halverson, Walter Jones Jr. and wife Pam Jones. Eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2008, at the Harris Chapel with burial at Petit Jean Lutheran Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 Friday, November 27, 2008, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Petit Jean Lutheran Church Camp, 110 Montgomery Trace, Morrilton, Arkansas 72110, or to Alzheimer's Arkansas, 10411W. Markham, Suite 130, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205.
