October 14, 1898 - March 4, 1969
Elbert P. Ball, 70, of Rt. 3, El Dorado, died Tuesday night in an El Dorado hospital following a lengthy illness. Born Oct. 14, 1898, in Hempstead County, he was the son of John and Cora Crowel Ball. A resident of this area for the past 50 years, he was an employer at the Lion Oil Refinery for 38 years, working as a special loader. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lola Gilkey Ball; two sons, James Ball and E. P. Ball, Jr., both of El Dorado; his stepmother, Mrs. Mattie Ball of Hot Springs; four brothers, Van Ball of El Dorado, J. W. Ball of Hot Springs, Kenneth Ball of Vietnam, and K. L. Ball of Camden; three sisters, Mrs. Dessie Rainey of Camden, Mrs. Norma Davis of Indianapolis, Ind., and Mrs. Evelyn Horn of Hot Springs; and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Rumph Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Halbert Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be J. T. Ross, Claude Robinson, Perry DeFee, Thorny Ray, Bill Smith and Ronald Smith. (El Dorado Times - March 5, 1969)
