Irving F. Ball, 70, of 1309 Louisiana Ave., died Monday night in a local hospital. Mr. Ball was born April 19, 1894 in the Hillsboro Community and was the son of Sam and Viola Harrison Ball. He had spent most of his life in the Wesson area before moving to El Dorado five years ago to live with a daughter, Mrs. Naomi Purtle. Mr. Ball was a retired farmer and carpenter and a member of the First Assembly of God Church of El Dorado. Survivors include six sons, Obers Ball of Mobile, Ala., Buphord Ball and Samuel Ball, both of Magnolia, and James Ball of Newport News, Va.; three daughters, Mrs. Viola Odom of Wright City, Tex., Mrs. Purtle of El Dorado and Mrs. Margaret Owens of Bernice, La.; a brother, Noel Ball of Patterson, La.; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Davis of El Dorado; 22 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be announced by Rumph Mortuary. (The El Dorado Times - August 4, 1964)
