Bud Junior Britton the son of Frank Britton and Eliza Alma Britton. Wilma Dean (O'Connor) Britton the daughter of William O’Connor and Virginia (Phillips) O’Connor.


Frankie Junior Britton, 82, of Concord, N.C., went to be with the Lord, Saturday, May 11, 2013.

He was born on October 25, 1930, in Fontaine, Arkansas, to the late Frank and Alma Britton.

Bud worked for many years with BB Vance Construction. He was a former mayor of Sedgwick and was a member of the Sedgwick Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Britton; a daughter and her husband, Becky and Bob Coln of Concord, NC; a sister, Imo Gene Mangrum of Cherokee Village; three grandchildren and their spouses, Jason and Kecia Coln of Mt. Pleasant, NC, Celena and Heath Shumaker of Harrisburg, NC and Amanda and Mitch Queen of Concord; six great-grandchildren, Dylan Coln, Savanah Coln, Hannah Shumaker, Emma Shumaker, Jake Queen and Nate Queen.

He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Hugh Britton, Walter Britton, Floyd Britton, Gene Britton; five sisters, Eunice Dunham, Lois Scott, Lola Dacus, Mary Fielder and Jesse Tilley.

A graveside services were at Old Military Cemetery near Sedgwick. Burial was under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.

Concord, NC- Wilma Dean Britton, 86, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 at her home.

She was born June 12, 1931 in Shady Grove to the late William and Virginia Phillips O’Connor. Mrs. Britton retired from the Sedgwick Post Office where she was the assistant postmaster. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sedgwick. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bud Britton and a brother and sister.

She was survived by a daughter and her husband, Becky and Bob Coln of Concord; three grandchildren and their spouses, Jason and Kecin Coln, Celena and Heath Shumaker and Amanda and Mitch Queen; six great-grandchildren, Dylan Coln, Savanah Coln, Hannah Shumaker, Emma Shumaker, Jake Queen and Nate Queen.

A celebration of her life will be 1:00 pm Friday, April 20, 2018 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Thomas Lamb officiating. Interment will follow at Old Military Cemetery in Sedgwick.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
