John Denton Rid West, aged 69, of 408 S. Bellott, died in a local hospital at 3 p.m. Sunday following a three week illness. Born August 27, 1896, near Spearsville, La., he was the son of B. F. and Mary Stuart West. Mr. West was a retired farmer and a member of the Knowles Baptist Church. He was also a veteran of World War I. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ora Futch West; three daughters, Mrs. Leo Geter of Lilly, La., Mrs. Louie Holmes, El Dorado, and Mrs. Ben Goff of El Dorado; two brothers, Elmer and Cliff West, both of Spearsville; two sisters, Mr. G. W. Dugal of El Dorado and Mrs. E. J. Dugal, Strong; one half sister, Mrs. Albert Black of Strong and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Rumph Mortuary Chapel, with Rev. Floyd Taylor and the Rev. W. J. Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles West, Buddy West, G. P. Dugal, A. C. Dugal, Rodell Black and Oren West. (The El Dorado Times - January 31, 1966)
