Eddie Elton Caudell, age 55, of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, passed away Friday, March 25, 2011. He was born December 21, 1955, in Eureka, California, a son of the late Elmer Eugene Caudell. He was a retired store owner and of the Assembly of God faith.
Eddie was always a hard worker. He was known for his kind nature, always friendly and loved to talk to everyone. Whenever he lived away from this area he would return as frequent as possible. He picked up his grandsons from Conway, and made a point to visit each and every family member, sometimes taking all day. Most of us forget to do that, but he never did! He had a special innocence that you could see through his eyes, showing a light into his soul that revealed an unconditional love. His life was not always easy, but he persevered through it all and came to the end a respectful, honorable Christian man. His disease tortured his body but he tried to remain independent, finally having to give in to being cared for by his sister, wife Connie, Cleva "their daughter" and his "favorite" granddaughters.
The past several years He was frequently overwhelmed with emotions, crying because he was so appreciative to see family members, or laughing uncontrollably- which caused all those around him to join in laughing because he was so adorable. He taught us all how to hunt for a bargain, never missing clearance sales rack and was more than willing to help everyone else find those bargains. This was a special characteristic of our sweet, sweet Eddie, and only added to the charm that was only him. Eddie touched all of our lives, and in some little way, made all of us a better person.
Eddie fought a hard battle with Parkinson's disease. Although unresponsive for days in the hospital, he let us know when he was ready to go to Heaven...He opened his eyes, raised his hands towards heaven...and with two thumbs up (his sign for yes)... took one last ..deep breath, and went to be with his Lord Jesus. Those of us with him at that moment were given a special gift, it was as if the angels had entered the room to escort him to the throne of God... where loved ones were there to greet him, and our Savior Jesus Christ could welcome him home, and say... well done, good and faithful servant. That most special...awe inspiring...breathtaking... moment... his family will cherish forever! We love you Eddie.
He was preceded in death by his father Elmer Eugene Caudell; Survivors include his Mother Sherry Rainbolt-Brown of Russellville, Arknasas; wife Connie McKinley Caudell of Colcord, Oklahoma; two Children Wendy Caudell-Macal and Jason Caudell both of Conway, Arkansas; four grandsons that he cherished with all his heart; two step children, Cleva Dickey of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee and Kieth Jones of Colcord, Oklahoma; three granddaughters; 6 great grandchildren; one sister, Deborah Chism of Atkins, Arkansas; three brothers, Bill Caudell of Pottsville, Arkansas, Rick and Robert Caudell both of Russellville, Arkansas.
We wish to especially thank those who helped to care for Eddie during the past year. The love & devotion you showed to him was amazing. He loved you as his own, as you loved him.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at the Harris Chapel with Rick Caudell and Dickie Durham officiating. Burial will be at Petit Jean Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
