Thomas C. McManus, 78, of 524 W. Hillsboro St., died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in a local hospital following a long illness. Born in Dallas County, Ark., Nov. 13, 1889, he was the son of Francis and Azalea Council McManus. He had been a resident of El Dorado for over 60 years where he was a member of the First Methodist Church. He was a retired Rock Island Railroad Co. engineer. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Etta Cornish McManus; a son Jack McManus of Dallas, Tex., and a grandson. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Rumph Mortuary with Dr. Alvin C. Murray and the Rev. Jack Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. (El Dorado Times - June 12, 1968)
