Gertrude Catherine Whistler, 94, of Ozark, Arkansas died Saturday, February 24, 2018 in Ozark. She was a retired clerical worker from the Rock Island, Illinois Arsenal and Booneville, Arkansas Correctional Center. She served in the US Navy during World War II, and was a member of Silver Creek Order of Eastern Star. She was born August 11, 1923 in Le Claire, Iowa to James and Grace McWilliams Carroll. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lloyd R. Whistler; and two brothers, James and Michael Carroll.
Left to cherish her memory are two sons and two daughters, Lloyd A. Whistler and wife Rebecca of Fletcher, Oklahoma and granddaughter Rachel Williams; Mark Whistler and wife Julie of Boise, Idaho and grandson Adam Whistler; Grace Ryals and husband Kevin of Ozark, Arkansas, granddaughter Catherine Ryals; and Susan Hoover and husband Robert of Huntsville, Alabama, grandsons Benjamin Bechtel and wife Amanda, great granddaughter Sophia Bechtel, grandson Matthew Bechtel and wife Allison, great granddaughters Kelly, Kimberly, and Kaitlyn Bechtel, and grandson Timothy Bechtel.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Zachary Belt officiating and burial at Highland Cemetery under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of Ozark.
Serving as pallbearers are Billy Joe Sawitsky, Charlie Bonner, Gary Hudson, Brent LeaVell, Hayden LeaVell and Charlie Stapp. Honorary pallbearer is Nelson Beckett
