Margaret Mavine Calaway Hammonds, 94, of Bearden died Monday May 15, 2006, at the Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden. Born March 20, 1912, in Vaden, Ark., she was a daughter of the late Thomas Pink Calaway and Florence Gatlin Calaway. Mrs. Hammonds was a homemaker and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Bearden.
"She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard "Shorty" Hammonds; a daughter, Hazel Enlow Cathy; a son, Doyle Hammonds; three brothers and five sisters. She is survived by three sons, Bodie Hammonds and wife Shirley of Bearden, Don Hammonds and wife Jennie of Ocoee, Fla., Mark Hammonds of Bearden; three daughters, Bernice Askew of Hope, Betty Hudson and husband Galen of Bearden, Brenda Moore and husband Jerry of Pine Bluff; 31 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 12 greatgreat-grandchildren.
"The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Bearden. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 2006,` at Fellowship Baptist Church in Bearden with Rev. Kevin Stevicks officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home of Bearden.
