Mrs. Guy P. Hays, a native and longtime resident of El Dorado, died Wednesday at 3:30 a.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joe R. Fendley, in Houston, Tex., after a protracted illness. The widow of Guy P. Hays, well known Union Countian, Mrs. Hays was Miss Carrie Poole before her marriage. She is survived by a son, Guy B. Hays, coach of the Smackover High School football team; three daughters, Mrs. Fendley of Houston and Mrs. James C. Sharp and Mrs. William Berry, both of Corpus Christie, Tex.; 12 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a brother, Minor Poole of Little Rock; and a sister, Mrs. Lanning, of Jonesboro, La. The body will be brought to El Dorado Wednesday afternoon for final rites and burial. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Young's. (The El dorado Times - November 4, 1964)
