Howeleen Ward, 78, of El Dorado, passed away surrounded by her loved ones Sunday, January 15, 2017, at CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock, AR. She was born January 2, 1939, to Preston William "Buster" and Maybelline Cook Summerville in El Dorado, AR.
She retired after 28 years of service with El Dorado Lumber Company, and worked at the Este Lauder counter at the M M Cohen Department Store. Howeleen was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. She made porcelain dolls and loved to birdwatch and fish.
Preceding her in death are her parents; daughter, Montie Lynn Ward; and sister, Annette Cook.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Shelby Ward, Jr.; two sons, Shelby "Sonny" Ward, III (Michelle), Michael Lynn Ward; daughter, Shelly Ward Posey all of El Dorado; brother, Preston Billy Summerville (Sara) of Texarkana, AR; sister, Patricia King of El Dorado; grandchildren, Maegan Womack, Christian Ward, Lacey Ward, Jon Micheal Ward (Lauren), Shelby Ward, IV, Hunter Ward, Houston Ward; and great grandchildren, Jaycie Womack, Graycie Womack, Kylie Ward, Ava Ward, and Lilah Ward.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Young's.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Pelz and Rev. Gerald Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
