When James Seth Hopkins was born on June 27, 1935, his father, Wiley, was 27 and his mother, Mary, was 16. He had one daughter with one wife. He also had two daughters from another relationship. He died on July 20, 1993, at the age of 58.

Jerry Marshall Hopkins, 73, a resident of White Hall, died Saturday, January 3, 2009, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.
Born June 27, 1935, in Watson, AR he was a son of Wiley and Mary Frances Bell Hopkins.
Mr. Hopkins was reared and received his early education in Pine Bluff. He was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School, and attended Arkansas A&M, now the University of Arkansas at Monticello, before joining the United States Navy. He served as a radar technician aboard the carrier U. S. S. Franklin Delano Roosevelt from 1956-1960.
Mr. Hopkins worked thirty years as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. He then worked part-time in security for Simmons First National Bank. He was also a member of the Jefferson County Mounted Patrol. Jerry Marshall Hopkins married Alpha de Guzman on June 7, 1980, in Pine Bluff.
Mr. Hopkins was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he taught the Junior Boys and Senior Adult Sunday School classes.
Mr. Hopkins was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty Deveny Hopkins; twin brother, James Hopkins; step-father Hershel Lloyd; one step-sister, Cathy Lloyd Vardaman; his aunt and uncle, Clarence and Thelma Peebles, who raised him.
Survivors include his wife Alpha Hopkins of White Hall; two sons, Marshall J. Hopkins of Little Rock, and Matthew Hopkins of San Diego, CA; step-son, Neil Devine of Chicago; step-sons and daughters-in-law, Edward S. And Rebecca Lyn Devine of San Diego, Randy and Janie Deveny of Little Rock, Royce and Blanche Deveny of Spring, TX, Richard and Barbara Deveny of Corinth, TX, brother, Charles Lloyd of McGehee; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leon and Sandra Lloyd and Ronald and Ann Lloyd all of McGehee; sister, JoAnn Wynne of McGehee; sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Warren Collins of Oklahoma City, OK; five grandchildren.
The visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 PM Monday, January 5, 2009, at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Immanuel Baptist Church with Reverend Don Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in McGehee Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son.
