John D. Deason, 88, of Smackover died Saturday night in a Camden hospital following a lengthy illness. Mr. Deason was born May 21, 1875 in El Dorado and was the son of Elizabeth Davidson and William Deason. He was a retired farmer and had been a resident of Smackover for the past 40 years. Mr. Deason was a member of the Maple Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include four sons; George Deason of Sulphur, La., L. G. Deason of Jasper, Tenn., Philip R. Deason of Monroe, La., and C. L. Deason of Fort Worth, Tex.; five daughters, Mrs. C. Edwards, of Atlanta, Tex., Mrs. Garland Stone of Smackover, Mrs. Tommy S. Wood of Fort Worth, Mrs. Floyd Heichel of San Antonio, Tex., and Mrs. H. Voyles of Webster, Tex.; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Young's with Rev. John Burton officiating. Burial followed in Friendship Cemetery under direction of Young's. Active pallbearers were Stewart Moore, Lonnie Lanbert, Pete Moore, Herbert Neal, Clarence Bugh and A. L. Blackwell.
