SPRINGDALE — Sherry Ann Mayfield, 45, of Springdale passed away after a courageous 11 month battle with cancer, Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Willard Walker Hospice in Fayetteville. She was born April 30, 1972, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to James Christopher "Lucky" Northern Sr. and Shirley Ann Haynes Northern.
She received several degrees at Pulaski Technical College including a Certificate of General Studies on Dec. 14, 2011, and an Associate of Arts degree and two Associate of Science degrees; one in Business and one in General Education on May 10, 2012. She graduated with honors both times. She became a member of the Beta Zeta Omega Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society of Two-Year Colleges in December 2009. She was a dedicated and devoted member; she served as the Vice President for the Beta Zeta Omega Chapter in 2011-12 and on several committees on the local, regional, and national level. She received the Alumni Award of Appreciation in April 2013 at the Phi Theta Kappa National Convention in San Jose, California.
She was preceded in death by her father, James C. (Lucky) Northern Sr. Survivors include her husband, Steve Mayfield of the home; two sons, Christopher Dallas O'Neal and wife Jacqueline of Hindsville and Dakota Austin Mayfield and wife Renee of Fayetteville; her mother, Shirley Northern of Springdale; one brother, James C. Northern, Jr. and wife Melanie of Rogers; two sisters, Diana Lannholm of Springdale and Tammy Wakeman and husband Jason of Springdale; grandchildren: Jordan, Brantley, Olivia O'Neal and McKinley and Madden Mayfield.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. After the committal service at the cemetery there will be a Gathering at 2705 S. 40th St., Springdale, Ark., 72762. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
