FAIRFIELD BAY — Nell Francis Calaway, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas went home to be with the Lord on April 9, 2011. She was born Nell Francis Clark at home in Emmaus, Arkansas on September 13, 1928.

She graduated from Warren High School in 1946 and attended college at Arkansas A&M. Her freshman year she was voted Homecoming Queen and was escorted by the co-captain of the football team, James Calaway, whom she married on October 25, 1946. She was the proud mother of four children. She was the perfect mother and supported her family in all of their activities. She was also the epitome of the perfect coach’s wife and was supportive, protective, and flexible as she took on each new coaching assignment. She made each new location their home. She served as a role model for her children by completing her college degree at the age of 43. She went on to become a respected elementary teacher in Sharpsville, Indiana and in Arkansas at Grady, Star City, and Woodlawn.

She was preceded in death by her parents James and Bernice Clark, husband James T. Calaway, two sisters, Jo Ann Harris and Billie Ruth Chambers, her brother Jay Walter Clark, and her granddaughter Stacia Wellenberger.

She will be missed greatly by her family which includes her sister Sarah Martin and her husband Gayle of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, son James Calaway and his wife Susan of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, daughter Cindy Wellenberger and her husband Paul also of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, son John Calaway and his wife Jo of Green Forest, Arkansas, son Greg Calaway and his wife Edie of Little Rock, Arkansas; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family has set visitation from 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the Baptist Church of Fairfield Bay and services will be held at the church at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2011. www,olmstead.cc.
