Kenneth E. Stutler, age 96, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at Indian Rock Village in Fairfield Bay. Born in Parke County, Indiana, near Jessup on May 12, 1915, he was the son of the late James Arthur Stutler and Mamie Cress Stutler.
Mr. Stutler was a 1933 graduate of the Rosedale High School. He was married to Mary Lucille Swift on February 13, 1943, at a Methodist Church in Washington, D.C. , where the ceremony was performed by a pastor who served as chaplain of the United States Senate.
Mr. Stutler was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy from January 1941 to January 1946. He served in the Pacific aboard the LSM Group Flagship.
In 1951, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Illinois and completed the requirements for a certified public accountant in 1958. He worked in accounting for Armour & Company, Ernst & Ernst Accounting Firm, E. I. DuPont, and three small life insurance companies. He served as director of accounting for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Indiana and retired from the company in June of 1977.
After his retirement, Mr. Stutler and his wife moved to Fairfield Bay in June of 1978, spending the winters in south Texas for twenty years. Mr. Stutler was a Mason and a Shriner and a member of the Lions Club. He was a member of the Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church. In December of 1997, he and Mary moved from their home in Fairfield Bay to Indian Rock Village. His wife preceded him in death on August 23, 1999.
Mr. Stutler is survived by one daughter, Janet Musick of De Berry, Texas; one sister, Phyllis Maxine Scott of Fishers, Indiana; one grandchild, Jennifer Kiser and her husband, Lt. Col. James Dale Kiser; and four great-grandchildren, Cole Andrew Kiser, Reagan Nicole Kiser, Payton Dayle Kiser, and Morgan Jamie Kiser. Mr. Stutler is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 23, at 1:30 p.m. at Indian Rock Village. Interment will follow at Woodland Memorial Park.
