Isabel (Goldin) Murphy, age 87, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away at her home on Sunday, May 3, 2009. Born in Winnipeg, Canada, on November 29, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Hyman and Fanny (Shitz) Goldin.
A resident of Fairfield Bay for thirty years, Mrs. Murphy was a homemaker. She had served as a volunteer at the former Van Buren County Hospital (now the Ozark Health Medical Center) in Clinton for several years. Her husband, John E. Murphy, preceded her in death on January 29, 1985.
Mrs. Murphy is survived by: her sister-in-law, Charlotte Goldin; nephew, Paul Goldin, his wife, Lucille, and his son, Ryan Goldin; nephew, Jack Goldin and his son, Eric Goldin; and niece, Emily Goldin.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 20, at 10:00 a.m. at Woodland Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Heber Springs. www.olmstead.cc
Isabel, known as Aunt Bella to us, was a wonderful human being. The most important thing to her was family, and she lived her life always thinking of her family first; she was the first one to arrive when a new niece or nephew was born to help her siblings with the baby.
We will miss you, Aunt Bella, with your funny stories about your childhood in Winnipeg, our Sunday phone conversations, our trip to see you in ‘07 at Thanksgiving when Ryan, who was then 11, taught you how to play poker, and the two of you played every chance you could.
Who will we be able to send care packages to filled with food and gifts, excited for your call saying you received them and we should stop sending these gifts to you even though deep down we knew it made your day! We only wish you would have moved to California over a year ago when we tried to get you to live with us. Deep down Fairfield Bay was your home, and in some way, we think you never really wanted to leave John. Now you are with him again, our dear Aunt Bella, resting by his side.
Thank you for the years of joy you brought us. We love you. Lucille, Paul and Ryan
