George Preston was the son of Preston Monroe Farris and Mary Isabell Cunningham Risner. On 15 December 1912 in Big Flat, Baxter County, Arkansas, he married Lillie Belle Sutterfield. In 1938, he and his family moved to Lee County, Arkansas, and bought a farm at Oak Forest. He and Lillie were living at Marianna, Lee County, Arkansas, at the time of his death in the Baptist Hospital in Memphis.
