John P. (Jack) Dozier, retired farmer and ginner from Lee County died Thursday, January 12, 2012. He was born on September 22, 1918 in Moro, Arkansas to Charles Edward Dozier and Ada Spivey Dozier. He attended schools in Moro and Marianna then graduated from the University of Arkansas having earned a degree in business agriculture. While at the university he became a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and was also commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the advanced R.O.T.C. program. Following his discharge from active duty in World War II, where he achieved the rank of major, he returned to Moro where he worked with his father in the family business, Moro Mercantile and Gin Company and their farming operations. Mr. Dozier served on the Lee County welfare board, the Lee County Development Corporation and was a member of the board of directors at Lee Memorial Hospital. Mr. Dozier was also a member of Lee County A.S.C. Committee and past president of the Lee County Rural water association. He was a Mason, a member of Julius Benham Post #5 of the American Legion having served as commander. He was honored to have served on the board of First National Bank of Marianna and served faithfully as a deacon at both Moro and Marianna Baptist Churches for many years. Preceding Mr. Jack in death were his parents Charles and Ada Dozier: his wife, Nelda Owen Dozier;three brothers, Floyd, Bingham and Jimmy and two sisters, Emma Edrington Collier and Marguerete Jones. Loving survivors include: daughters, Jane Self from Hot Springs, Judy Griffin from Helena: Son John from Hot Springs: 6 Grandchildren and 10 Great-Grandchildren. The family was blessed to have wonderful ladies who loved Jack and met his every need daily. Thank you, Brenda Buzzard, Malena Brown and Robbie Terrill for your faithfulness. A Military Graveside Service for Mr. Dozier will be held 2PM, Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Marianna Memorial Park Cemetery at Marianna. Rev. Todd Maino officiating. Military honors by the United States Army.

Nelda Barron Dozier, born in Jacksonville, AR. September 16, 1919 went to her home in heaven October 26, 2009.

She graduated from Jacksonville, AR and attended the University of Arkansas where she met her husband of 70 years, John P. Dozier.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter T. Barron and Tressie Thomas Barron; brothers W.T. Barron, Jr., Joe Barron of Jacksonville, AR; and Harold Barron of North Little Rock, AR; and grandson Corey D. Jones of Marianna, AR.

She belonged to the order of Eastern Star and helped organize the Lee Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in Marianna and later served as president. She was on the committee for the construction of the Gary Glover Family Life Center, a member of Chapter AW PEO sisterhood and also served as the president, volunteered for Red Cross for 25 years, a member of First Baptist Church in Marianna, where she was a beloved teacher for the Sr. High and adult classes. She was also a devoted Sunday School teacher at Moro Baptist Church. She was bookkeeper for the Moro Gin Company, and Dozier Farms, Inc, a family business in Moro, AR. She was known as Miss Nelda, Nelda, and Mama Nell by a host of friends and family and was famous for her apple pies and was always cooking and taking food to someone daily when she lived in Moro and Marianna. Her calendar was always full of social events or just going to check on someone that was in need. She loved her Razorbacks and always went to the games when it was possible. She loved to play golf, bridge, and just socialize with all her family and friends.

She was a true Christian, southern lady with a loving spirit and kindness to everyone that she met. Her gift in life was serving others and always putting others' needs before her own.
She is survived by son John Dozier and wife Cathy of Hot Springs, AR; daughters Jane Self of Hot Springs, AR; and Judy Griffin and husband Buron of Helena, AR.

She is also survived by grandchildren, Kylie Dozier of Nashville, TN; Joe Fitts & wife Laura of Conway, AR; Pat Fitts & wife Alice of Hamburg, AR; Dr. John Kilcrease & wife Emily of Springdale, AR; Lisa Joyner & husband Daren of Manila, AR; Tracy Griffin & wife Amy of Helena, AR; and Barry Jones & wife Denise of Marianna, AR.

She is also survived by great-grandchildren Peyton and Kyle Joyner of Manila, AR; Jake, Garrett, and Shelby Fitts of Conway; Grace and Luke Kilcrease of Springdale, AR; Austin and Audrey Fitts of Hamburg; and Corey James Jones of Marianna.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Joe and Pat Fitts, Daren Joyner, John Kilcrease, Tracy Griffin, and Barry Jones.

Burial was at Marianna Memorial Park.
