Jack Fowler, 83, of Hartman died Saturday, April 2, 2005, in an Ozark nursing home. He was born February 18, 1922, in Johnson County, and he was a retired coal miner, a Marine veteran of World War II, a graduate of Hartman High School, and a member of Springhill Masonic Lodge No 118 and Union Grove Baptist Church.

Funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Hartman with burial at West Mount Zion Cemetery in Hartman, Arkansas.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter, two sons, one sister, one brother, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers were Johnson County coal miners.


Betty Jo Fowler, 90, of Clarksville, Arkansas, was born March 18, 1924, in Johnson County, Arkansas, and died February 18, 2015, in Ozark, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jack Fowler; her parents, James Wesley and Myrtle Stokes Bivins; a son, Joe Bivins Fowler; and five sisters. She is survived by her son, Michael Fowler and wife, Edith, of Ozone; her daughter, Jackie Ann Whitson and husband, Ron, of Lenoir City, Tennessee; her daughter-in-law, Judy Fowler of Clarksville; her sister, Iola Powell of Katy, Texas; eight grandchildren: Jeremy Fowler of Russellville; Donna Fowler of Clarksville; Anita Wesley (Ben) of Alma; Rita Robins (Stanley) of Van Buren; Jamie Willis (Kesha) of Ozone; Heather Fowler of Fort Smith; Jaye Henderson (Brian) of Springdale; and Megan Mayfield of Hartman; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 23, 2015, at Hardwicke Funeral Home Chapel in Clarksville, Arkansas, with Pastor Regina Turner officiating. Burial will follow in West Mount Zion Cemetery in Hartman, Arkansas.
