Johnny Jake Elser, 75, of Altus, Arkansas, died, Sunday, December 16, 2012 in Ozark, Arkansas.
He was born January 1, 1937 in Altus to Leo and Matilda Rofkahr Elser.

He was a Catholic. He was a knife and saw sharpener and Alderman for Weiderkehr Village.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Herman Joseph Elser.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at St. Mary's Church in Altus with Father David Bellinghausen officiating, under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Joy Turner Elser of Altus; one daughter, Lisa Winchester of Mountainburg, Arkansas; two sons, John Elser of Altus and Danny Elser of Ozark; two grandchildren, four step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.

Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel with visitation to follow from 6:30 – 7:30 PM.

Pallbearers are Albert Leding, George Flegel, Ted Skolarski, David Kendricks, Terry Milam and Larry Barham. Honorary pallbearers are Don Neumier, David Myers, Gerald Rinke, Alquin Wiederkehr, Kenneth Leding, Don Eskelson and James Rofkahr.

Joy D. Elser, 75, of Altus, Arkansas, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014, in Ozark.
She was born December 18, 1938 at Cass, Arkansas, to Eli and Nora Martin Turner.

She was a retired LPN of Ozark Nursing Home. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Altus, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Elser and twenty-one brothers and sisters.

She is survived by two sons, John Elser of Altus, and Danny Elser of Ozark; a daughter Lisa Winchester of Mountainburg, Arkansas; her twin brother Roy Turner of Alma; a sister Grace Eskelson of Ozark; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

The family will visit with friends 2:00 – 4:00 PM, Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Shaffer Funeral Home, 2315 West Commercial in Ozark.

Rosary service will be held at 1:30 PM Monday, July 28, 2014, immediately followed by Mass service at 2:00 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Altus, with Father Hugh Assenmacher OSB officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Larry Barham, Terry Milam, David Kendrick, Cody Harmon, Albert Leding and George Flegel.
