FAYETTEVILLE — Frances Myrtle "Mutt" Mitchell passed from this world to be with her Lord and family Friday, Oct. 24, 2014. She was born Dec. 6, 1921, in De Ridder, La., the daughter of Charles Guy Christie and Emma Christina Gerkin Christie.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and seven siblings, Ethyl Blanche Rader, Clara Marie Washausen, Orson Henry "Eli" Christie, Dolly Mae Broyles, Mabel Katherine Mueller, Leslie Guy "Slick" Christie and Arnold Ripley Christie.
Shortly after her birth, the family moved back to the Fayetteville area where she resided the remainder of her life. On Nov. 29, 1941, she wed her lifetime love, Richard Stanley "Dick" Mitchell Jr., in Stilwell, Okla., by the local justice of the peace. The next 30 years they resided in the Wyman community on the family farm. During World War II they raised many a row crop for the government to help sustain troops in the war efforts. Many a harvest crew and row crop workers enjoyed meals she prepared and shared with workers on the farm.
Together she and her husband raised two daughters, Amanda Christina "Susie" Wynne and Shirley Mitchell; nephew; Freddy Lee Washausen (one son) that was a part of their life in the early years.
In 1971, she lost the love of her life but continued the farm operations for several years. In 1985, she relocated to the Baldwin community where she resided till her death. The last year or so she shared her home with Shirley, her daughter. Together they had many laughs and tears, and cherished memories. She enjoyed her flowers and all of nature. She loved to watch the clouds and admire all the works our Lord created for our enjoyment on earth.
She is survived by her two daughters and one son; several grandchildren, Calvin J. "C.J." Mitchell and family of Wesley, Ark., Charles Ward and family of Elkins, Ark., Cindy Wynne and family of Okeman, Okla., Wendall "Windy" Branham and family of Hackett, Ark., Shawn Wynne and family of Hogeye, Ark., Richard Wynne and family of Lowell, Ark.; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews; and her church family at the Baldwin Christian Church.
