David's parents were William David and Zadie Ethel Willmuth; Eva's parents were Joseph Luther and Francis Arkansas Reavis Smith
David and Eva were the parents of Anna Marie, Vernon Ray, Charles Grady, Mary Kathryn, and Connie Ruth. David was a man of great humor and could spin a tall tale without much effort. He developed a love for music early in life and eagerly awaited the day when he would "Sing with the Angel Band." His life was devoted to hard work and love of family. Eva was a lady of great wisdom and a wonderful story teller. She made the events of her childhood come alive in the stories she shared with her children. Her Christian beliefs inspired her brother Rev. Jean (J.C.) Smith to comment that "Eva is the best person I know."
