Joseph Albert Kiene, who resided in Charleston, Arkansas, passed away Friday, June 16, 2017, at his home. He was born April 8, 1931, in Olpe, Kansas to the late Albert Hubert Kiene and Rose Elizabeth (Wellnitz) Kiene. He was 86 years old. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Faye (Hoelscher) Kiene; and two brothers, Thomas Arthur Kiene and Donald Eugene Kiene.
Joe was a retired cattle rancher and farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, and he was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston.
Rosary service will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 19th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Deacon Mark Verkamp officiating.
Funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 20th, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston, with Father Patrick Watikha, A.J. officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Charleston, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by three daughters, Kathryn Brickey and husband Gary of Redfield, Arkansas, Marie Cole and husband Jim of Fayetteville and Debbie Foreman and husband David of Conway; three sons, Thomas Kiene and wife Kathy of Winfield, Kansas, Michael Kiene and wife Kate of Scottsville, Kentucky and Jim Kiene of Orlando, Florida; three sisters, Rose Ann, Mary Lou, and Alberta Kiene, all of Rudy; one brother, Tony Kiene and wife Mary Jean of Lavaca; five grandchildren, Tina Curtis, Erick Kiene, William Kiene, Stephen Kiene and Emily Brickey; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Kiene, Gary Brickey, William Kiene, Stephen Kiene, Erick Kiene and Mark Curtis.
The family will visit with friends following the rosary service.
