Rev. Bennie J. McWha, 68, of Fayetteville went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, in Fayetteville. He was born Aug. 9, 1936, in Glenwood, the son of Ernest and Lottie Thrash McWha. He received his doctorate of divinity at the Missionary Baptist Seminary in Little Rock. He served as a missionary in Japan for 17 years and in Russia for nine months. Then he ministered in Indiana, Texas and Michigan with the Institute of Basic Life Principles and recently served as chaplain for the Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He attended the Fellowship Bible Church in Springdale.

He is survived by his wife, Shelba Jean Shuffield McWha of the home; his mother, Lottie McWha of Fayetteville; one son and daughter-in-law, Ernie McWha and Debra of Fayetteville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carrie Bennett and Ken of Fayetteville, Diane Burns and Jimmy of Fayetteville; one sister and brother-in-law, June Jones and the Rev. James Jones of Batesville; 18 grandchildren; one niece and two nephews.

Following a private burial, funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23 at the Central Baptist Church in Fayetteville with Mr. Ron Fuhrman and Rev. John Glasser officiating.

Pallbearers will tie Steve Schneider, Chris Overby, Ken Bennett, Jimmy Burns, Bradley Burns and Ernie McWha,

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons Benjamin Burns, Joseph Burns, Stephen Burns, Samuel Burns, Caleb Burns, Michael Bennett, Andrew Bennett and the chaplains of Washington Regional Medical Center.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 22 at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. The family will be present.
