SPRINGDALE — Loy Leon Trapp, 88, of Springdale, died Jan. 13, 2010, in Springdale. He was born June 17, 1921, in Bellview, N.M., to Carroll Edward and Annie Mae Brummett Trapp. He was a retired electrician and certified welder. For 65 years he was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 700 Fort Smith, Ark. Mr. Trapp was well known in his trade as being a perfectionist and doing the job right. This was true for anything he touched. He was a member of the Nazarene Church of Broadview, N.M., but he attended Pleasant Street Church of Christ, Springdale, Ark. His hobbies were working in his shop, reading and working puzzles.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Lorene Parker Trapp, whom he married July 1, 1941, in Clovis N.M.; their son, Kenneth Trapp of Bella Vista, Ark.; daughter, Shirley Trapp VanOverschelde and her husband, Gary, of Rogers, Ark.; one sister, Iwana Scott of Santa Cruz, Calif.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale with Larry Branum officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Bill Hickey, Lester Harrison, Jerry Baker, David Sizemore, John Davenport and Fay Harriman.

Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Street Church of Christ, 1020 S. Pleasant St. Springdale, AR 72764.

SPRINGDALE — Hazel Lorene Parker Trapp, 91 years old, passed away June 27, 2014, after a long illness with MDS (Myelodysplasia syndrome leukemia). She was under the care of Ashley Health and Rehabilitation in Rogers, Ark. She was born May 26, 1923, in Anderson (Izard County), Ark., to Ezra Roy Parker and Cordelia McMahan Parker.

Hazel and her husband, Loy Leon Trapp (deceased), were married July 1, 1941, in Clovis, N.M.; they were happily married 68 years.

She was a homemaker and loving mother who enjoyed reading, gardening, and working puzzles. She learned the meaning of resilience, courage, optimism, and humor during the "worst of hard times" - of the Dust Bowl days; the Great Depression; and the Second World War. At the age of 4 she was diagnosed with polio.

Hazel was a member of the Pleasant Street Church of Christ, Springdale, Ark. For 10 years, she was a Lecturer for the Zion Oak Grange for which she received many awards.

She had a zest for life; those who knew her loved her and enjoyed being around her.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth Trapp of Bella Vista, Ark.; her daughter, Shirley Trapp VanOverschelde and her husband Gary VanOverschelde of Rogers, Ark.; two brothers, Glen Parker of Johnson, Ark., and Lee Roy Parker and his wife, Barbara, of Dardanelle, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express a very special "thank you" to the nurses, CNAs and staff at Ashley Health and Rehabilitation for their kindness, love and care of our dear mother.

Visitation will be Monday, June 30, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel a Springdale.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale, with Larry Branum officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Mr. Bill Hickey, Mr. Fay Harriman, Mr. Jerry Baker, Mr. John Davenport, Mr. Tyler Dutton, and Mr. Lester Harrison.

Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Street Church of Christ, 1020 South Pleasant St., Springdale, AR 72764.
