She was the daughter of Eliza Jane (Hulsey) and John Wesley Roberts. They had six children: James Lafayette M Estes; Mary Mahala Jane Hulsey; Elizabeth Tryphenie Fancher Hulsey; William Calvin Jones Estes; Isaac Frank Kirby Estes and Elza Barham Poynor Estes.
