Mr J W Butler, 74, of Ratcliff, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, in Paris. He was born Oct. 31, 1935, in Florence, Ala. He was retired from the Navy, a former bus driver for the County Line School District and a member of Brooklyn Freewill Baptist Church, the Fleet Reserve Association, the GCA Association and the Ratcliff Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr Butler was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife: Chessie; three daughters: Brenda Bentley of Cherry Valley, California, Rhonda Savoy, of Ratcliff, Arkansas, and Wanda Llewellyn of Twenty-nine Palms, California; two sisters: Audrey Butler and Debbie Stokes, both of Florence, Alabama; a brother: Robert Butler, of Florence, Alabama; 8 wonderful grandchildren; 12 precious great-grandchildren; other relatives; and a host of friends.
Funeral services with full military honors was held on Monday, February 1, 2010, at the Brooklyn Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Butler was laid to rest at teh Caulksville Cemetery in Caulksville, Arkansas.
Pallbearers were: Steve Young, Jay Young, Jay Paul Young, Dwayne Hawkins, Clinton Bottoms, and Gerald Hall.
Honorary pallbearers were: the Ratcliff Volunteer Fire Department.
