WOODS, Lola B. ORR - Lola B. Woods, aged 30 years, wife of S.D. Woods, died at the home of her father, W.F. Orr, in this city Tuesday, Feb. 28th, 1905 at 10:20 p.m. Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church, South today {Thursday} March 2nd at 10 o'clock a.m. and the remains were interred in the K. of P. Cemetery. By request of the deceased Rev. Burrows of Springdale, her old pastor, formerly of Sulphur Springs, conducted the funeral services. Mrs. Woods was a sufferer of that dread disease, consumption, and her death had been expected for several weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Woods returned a few months ago from an extended trip in Colorado, where they went in hopes the climate there would be beneficial to Mrs. Woods' health but there was no change for the better. Prior to their leaving for Colorado their home was in Sulphur Springs where Mr. Woods was in the grocery business. Besides the husband and other relatives a sweet little girl baby at the tender age of two years is left without the guiding care of a loving mother. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the sorrowing ones in their sore bereavement.

"She is dead; died at 10 o'clock last night. Can you come?" This was the message that came to me from Bentonville, Ark. on the morning of March the 1st, 1905. Lola Orr, daughter of Brother W.R. Orr, was born in Georgia, April 16th, 1874 and three years later her father came with his family to Bentonville and located. Here in 1889 she was converted to the religion of Christ Jesus and a short time afterwards joined the M.E. Church, South. When she was about 16 years of age her mother died and upon her young heart and shoulders fell the responsibility of governing and training her motherless sisters and brothers, and well was the duty done. Her step-mother in speaking of her virtues unto the writer: "No one could have done better." This is exemplified in their deportment. In September 1889 she was married to Brother S.D. Woods and these two began a life of happiness together, which was continuous up to the last moment. On the morning of the 20th of Feb'y. I was called over the telephone by Brother Woods, asking me to come to Sister Woods, who was slowly sinking with the consumption. I went according to the request. The family had returned a month before from Colorado where they went last August in quest of relief for Sister Woods. I found her sitting in the rocking chair, waiting for me. After a few minutes of general conversation she told me why she wanted a personal talk with me. "I want you to preach my funeral," said she. "I wanted to hear you say that you would." Then she arranged the entire funeral service as she wanted it. She said, "I am ready to go. My spiritual state is alright, I settled that at the age of 15 when I embraced the religion of the Lord and consecrated my life to Him." All the time she talked in a whisper, which was pathetic, and a peaceful smile played over her face and but once did the tears come in sight and that was when she referred to leaving her baby. B.M. Marvin Orr of Ft. Madison, Ia. and Sam Orr of Webb City, Mo. left last Sunday for their homes. They were called here on account of the sickness and death of their sister, Mrs. Dee Woods.
