Shirley Mae Penix, 55, of Leola, died June 10, 2000, at University Hospital at Little Rock.
She was born April 24, 1945, at Tulip (Dallas County), a daughter of Allie Collins of Princeton and the late Minnie Hawkins Collins.
She was a homemaker and a member of Toones Chapel AME Church at Tulip where she was a member of the pastor's aide committee. She was also a member of the Cancer Society.
Other survivors include a son, Christopher Penix of Malvern; two daughters, Priscilla Penix and Arcenthal Stanton, both of Tulip; seven brothers, Calray Smith of Malvern, Arlander Lowe and Larry Bennett, both of Tulip, Alvin Collins of Portland, Oregon, Jewellander Collins of Sparkman, John Means of Hot Springs and Walter Jenkins of Princeton; six sisters, Doris Smith of Tulip, Ethel McGough of Fordyce, Ella Mae Green of St. Louis, Edna Collins, Carolyn Collins and Juanita Conners, all of Little Rock; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Toones Chapel AME Church with the Rev. Anthony Archer officiating. Burial will be in Toones Chapel Cemetery by Brown-Williams Funeral Home at Fordyce.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family will be at 66 Dallas Highway 409 at Leola.
