Rev. Betty Jean (Gipson) Williams, age 86, died on March 24, 2017, at the Pocahontas Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Pocahontas, AR.
Rev. Williams was born January 7, 1931, in Coffman, AR, to Carson and Jessie (Irving) Gipson. She was married on October 26, 1946, to Warren A. Williams of Hoxie, AR, and had two children: a daughter, Jeanne (Williams) Bowen of Albuquerque, NM; and a son, Warren D. Williams of Imboden, AR. Rev. Williams had one granddaughter, Katie Williams, also of Imboden.
Rev. Williams was employed at Golf Bag Associates in Walnut Ridge for over twenty years and
served as a minister for the Faith Assembly in Old Walnut Ridge, AR. Of the Pentecost faith, Rev. Williams began preaching while living in Wayne, MI. She also served as pastor of the Minturn Assembly of God. Being a minister for over 40 years, Rev. Williams dedicated her life to serving God and the church.
Rev. Williams is survived by her daughter, son, and granddaughter, as well as a son-in-law, Don, and a daughter-in-law, Melinda. She is also survived by two sisters and one brother: Virginia (Gipson) James of Jonesboro, AR; Mary (Gipson) Rogers of Walnut Ridge, AR; and Carson “Jack” Gipson, Jr., of Rockford, Ill.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister, Jessie (Gipson) Granger, formally of Phoenix, AZ.
Both services at McNabb Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 28, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. with the funeral on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at 2 p.m. with Timothy Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Ben Campbell, Duffie Williams, Bobby Lee Williams, Jeffrey Williams, Aaron Henson, and Terry James.
Honorary pallbearers: Larry Couch and Alan Flanery.
