Thelma Yearby Brooks Bostater, age 94, of Greenville, Indiana, formerly of Searcy, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 7, 2008, in Greenville. She was born in Center Hill, Arkansas on July 3, 1914 to the late Hugh C. and Mary Ann Yearby. Mrs. Bostater was a charter member of Grace United Methodist Church, in Searcy, where she taught Sunday School for many years. In later years, she married her second husband and lived in Bartlett, Tennessee. There she joined, attended, and made many friends at Brownsville Church of Christ, in Bartlett, where Claude was already a member. She loved her church and was an avid reader of her Bible. After Claude’s death, she moved to Greenville, Indiana to be near her grandson, Ken Davidson, and his family. Thelma was employed at International Shoe Company, in Searcy, all of the years that it was in operation. She was a member of the National Democratic Party and loved to watch Razorback football.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Margaret Davidson, of Searcy; sister, Marie Davis, of Searcy; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Ken and Lane Davidson, of Greenville, Indiana; great grandchildren, Matt Davidson of North Little Rock; Elton and Amanda Williams of New Albany, Indiana; Bronson Williams and Dexton Williams both of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Rachel and Adam Garrison of Little Rock; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, great-great niece and great-great nephews; and many friends, all of which loved her very much and are left to cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Brooks, to whom she was married for 57 years until his death; husband, Claude Bostater, to whom she married later in life; parents, Hugh C. and Mary Ann Yearby; and on sister, Alene Gay.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home with interment following at Center Hill Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. Dr. Rockey Starnes, pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church, will officiate at the funeral service. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Alzheimer’s Arkansas, 10411 West Markham, Suite 130, Little Rock, AR 72205.
