Clarence W. McGill, age 72, of 129 Cleveland Ave., NW, was killed in a traffic accident 10 miles east of Lake Charles, La. Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Mr. McGill was enroute to Lake Charles to spend the holidays with his son at Lake Charles. No details of the accident were learned. Mr. McGill has made his home in Camden for the past 50 years and was in the jewelry repair business for many years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. John Cover of Beaumont, Texas; one son, Robert W. McGill of Lake Charles, La.; three grandchildren; six brothers, Dr. A. G. McGill of Little Rock, Dr. S. D. McGill of Camden; Minto McGill of Chidester; Walter McGill of Chidester; Sidney McGill of Springhill, La., Leighton McGill of Marked Tree, Ark.; three sisters, Miss Sarah McGill of Washington, D. C.; Mrs. G. C. Melton, Fayetteville; Mrs. Alvin Cole of Prescott. Funeral services will be held Monday 2:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Henry Grubbs officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery. Casket-bearers are T. L. Hollingsworth, W. R. Atkins, Colin Threadgill, Louis Saxon, George Smith, Bob Hotchkiss, W. F. Gilleland and W. Neill Hart. Proctors Funeral Service will be in charge. (Camden News - December 24, 1956)
