T.J. Wharton of Siloam Springs, formerly of Conway, died Tuesday (Nov. 1, 2005).
Born April 23, 1919, in Vilonia, son of the late Thomas and Lorah Wilson Wharton, he was a mechanical engineer, a former employee of General Motors, retired from Sears and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Conway.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Cathern Pate Wharton; one daughter, Betty Sturgis; one brother; and seven sisters.
Survivors are three stepdaughters, Iva Rice of Siloam Springs, and Glenna Nalley and Margie Brychta, both of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one stepson, James K. Atkinson of Delaware (Logan County); four grandchildren; and nine stepgrandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Beryl Cemetery in Vilonia.
