Mary Frances “Poopsie” Raney, 94, of Mayflower, passed away Monday, March 13, 2006. Mrs. Raney was born June 16, 1911, in the 16th Section Community, near Vilonia, to the late Amos Q. and Rebecca F. (Wright) Patrick. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 59 years, J.H. Hollie” Raney and seven brothers and sisters. Poopsie was a graduate of Providence High School and later taught there in a one room school house. A resident of Faulkner County most of her life, she and her husband owned and operated Raney’s General Store in Mayflower for 55 years and were cattle farmers. She was a life long Methodist and member of Mayflower United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Ann L. Harrell and husband Royce and Janice J. Harrell and husband Frankie; one son, James P. “Jim” Raney, all of Mayflower; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 6 great great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway with burial following at Mayflower Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren. The family would like to give a special thank you to the Hospice Home Care of Conway and special friend Carol Bales of Mayflower. Memorials may be made to Mayflower United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
