Personal Story
He fought in the Battle of the Bulge in Germany and was wounded by a sniper bullet. From there he was transferred to a hospital in Paris and he could see the Eiffel Tower. After a few days of treatment he was transferred to a hospital in England, from there he boarded a ship and was returned to the USA in Houston Texas. He recovered from his wounds in the neck and shoulder and returned to his home and farming in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.
Wilburn related this series of events to me on Veterans Day 2013, he is now 90 years old and has outlived both his wives. One of which is my mother (Agnes Jewel Rice Parker Hibbs) Lonnie Parker - fold3(dot)com
